Player Expectations
Welcome to the Flanaess. To ensure an immersive and respectful experience for everyone at the table, we adhere to the following core expectations.
Mutual Respect
Whether in OOC or IC, respect your fellow players and the DM. Bigotry or harassment results in immediate removal. No meta gaming!
Attendance & Timing
Please let us know if you will be unable to attend. We will play every-other week and will discuss at Session 0 how we handle holidays and such.
Active Engagement
Minimize distractions. Be prepared for your turn in combat and stay focused on the unfolding narrative. Stay in character whenever possible, if you are talking, your character is talking. In combat please be ready for your turn.

Basics
- Standard Equipment for Class
- Use D&D Beyond for character creation
- Link your character to the campaign
- Point Buy for stats
- No Evil Alignments without DM Discussion
- Start at Level 1 and everyone gets their max HP for Level 1
- Nat 20 and Nat 1 success/fail only applies to combat rolls
- Everyone needs a non-game-altering backstory appropriate for a Level 1 character.
Home Brew Rules
- Potions are a BONUS ACTION if used on yourself
- Potions are an action to use on someone else
- Critical hits are max damage plus dice roll. (Example is if your attack is 2d6+2 and you crit you take the 2d6 max (12) and roll 2d6 then add 2).
- When you level up your hit points are rolled but no less than 1/2 your max possible.
- Until Level 3 if you don't like something about your character we can discuss changing it (Species/Class/Stats/etc).
- If you are knocked unconscious the first time is free, after the second you take 1 level of exhaustion each time.

Resting
Short rest is 20 minutes, you may use as many hit dice to recover as you like. Long rest is 8 hours. You can only take ONE long rest per day.
Gameplay Mechanics
This will be a beginner friendly game with some rules to create some interesting gameplay.
Exhaustion Is Real
When you hit 0HP for the second time in a combat encounter you take one level of exhaustion each time your hit 0 HP. These clear next long rest.
Rules of Cool
Some rules of cool will exist, please don't argue with the DM if a ruling is final. We can work out specifics or ret-con later. Keep the gameplay going!
Roleplay Guidelines

Stay in character during exploration and social encounters to maintain immersion. Respect the 'Spotlight' rule, ensuring everyone has their moment to interact. Use 'In-Character' (IC) speech for dialogue and 'Out-of-Character' (OOC) only for mechanical clarifications. Align your character's motivations with the Greyhawk setting's political and dark fantasy nuances. Be kind to each other, the goal of this is that we are all friends having a great time!
Let's leave phones down when possible.
